Overnight the Labour voted along side their Liberal colleagues to advance an “encryption busting” law that could force companies like Whatsapp to implement back doors into their software to allow Government access.
While the Bill can still be blocked by the Senate – it does create many questions and no doubt concerns for the Australian public already concerned about Government overreach.

In 2016 the Government released a list of organisations that had requested warrant-less access to Australians Data.
The list is here and includes Greyhound Racing Victoria, Bankstown City Council and various other Racing agencies.
